Patient Selection & Support Resources

Ensuring CAR-T is a match for your patient is a clinical, financial and logistical decision made together. This page sets out the criteria community programs weigh, and the resources that help patients and care partners get through treatment.

Key Selection Criteria

Community programs that select patients well share a common structure: a standing multidisciplinary committee that reviews every candidate against clinical, financial and logistical criteria before workup begins. Thresholds vary by center, by physician and by product.

  • Indication-Specific Eligibility — Confirm the patient’s disease type, line of therapy and product label indication first, then complete the baseline laboratory studies and imaging your protocol requires before workup proceeds
  • Additional Clinical Factors — Comorbidities, organ function, such as renal, cardiac and pulmonary, and disease characteristics complete the clinical picture. Product toxicity profile and time to CRS and ICANS onset also inform the patient treatment plan.
  • Care Partner Availability — A dedicated care partner who can give 24-hour support during outpatient phases, transport the patient, help manage medications and recognize when to call the team. Creative solutions exist when one dedicated partner is not an option.
  • Proximity and Logistics — Ability to commit to remaining in proximity to a healthcare facility for up to two weeks after infusion and to avoid driving for two weeks. Centers set their own radius.

Patient & Caregiver Support Resources

Clinical eligibility is only part of the decision. Lodging near the center, insurance navigation and a care partner who can be present around the clock all affect whether a patient can complete treatment. Example support organizations below, but there are many available resources including organizations in or near your community. Product manufacturers also run their own support programs.
